Michael Moore’s latest book, "Dude, Where’s My Country," is not only an informational and hilarious book about the many flaws and missteps in the Bush administration, it is also a clear cut explanation of the role of the Bush administration in such modern evils as terrorism. I recommend this book to anyone still puzzled by the actions of George W. Bush in the wake of September 11th to read this book.

Michael Moore approaches the issue of terrorism like any common American would if she had the time to do the research and dig through the mountains of information on the subject. He explains in detail, how President Bush was involved with the Bin Laden family before and after 9/11, how deep rooted his special interest attachments are in areas like foreign fuel dependence and the intent (pre 9/11) of this administration to engage in war with Iraq at some point.

He identifies himself as no collegiate scholar, no professional analyst but as an interested and engaged regular guy. He has no secret ties to insiders in the White House, but he lays out the current policies of the White House are part of a long term objective to remove Americans from their political sphere even more than they already are. Moore explains how Bush manipulates people’s fear and anger toward foreign terrorism and the basic belief that all tax cuts are good tax cuts. Moore points out that, in reality, the majority of people across this country are not interested in drilling the Artic National Wildlife Refuge or in occupying North Korea.

Reassuring his audience in that the right-wing movement is not a majority of the vote just the majority of the active vote, is something Moore tries to focus on. He points out, with a hopeful outlook, that if more regular Americans got out and actually realized their potential impact on government, we could change everything Bush has set into motion in his term. Moore, himself, is taking an active role by donating his generous tax cut to any strong political opponent of Bush. He even considers what a full proof opponent might take the shape of—Oprah! Even as his sense of humor adds a feeling of hope and good nature to the book, his convictions and dreams for the future of America are clear and they do not include a highly self-involved and deceptive elected leader.

This book is a revealing and informative look at what Bush has done while in office and of what we can do to effectively reverse it all. He invokes a realistic and honest approach to government and encourages passionate and active involvement of every member of the American community. The message is one of empowerment for all people concerned with the current state of the union.
