The Blazing Saddle: "Where you never have to ask for a double."
By JESSE FOLK
The Saddle, as it is affectionately known, is an institution among the Iowa gay scene, as well it should be. Not only is it a comfortable place for all folks, not just gays and lesbians, but if you are... well, let's just say they have you covered.
The Saddle is down the hill from the capitol, nestled in the very heart of the East Village. In fact, it was there before the East Village even existed. If you're in the mood to barhop, it's not too far from the Garden. But the Saddle will more than meet your need to party.
The Blazing Saddle a must-stop if you're gay, and if you’re not, it’s still a great place to go to. The party truly never stops at the Saddle,
ATMOSPHERE
Imagine “Cheers” if it were a gay bar. Like the bar of television fame, The Blazing Saddle is an extremely comfortable bar to hang out in. But watch out after-hours. The parties at the Saddle happen early, often and go late into the night. The Saddle offers the best line-up of gay entertainment in the state. It has recurring parties happening every week.
PRICES
The value for your money here is better than any bar in town. While $4.50 for a rum & coke might not seem cheap for some, here's a secret: it's all rum with almost no coke. The boys and girls at the Saddle treat their customers well. Cover charge, you ask? Blazing Saddle has never had it, and claims they never will.
