By LINDSEY RODGERS
Everyone loves a good slice of pie the at-home delivery pizzas seem to always leave a little something more to be desired. At Bazbeaux Pizza, I guarantee there is a little something for everyone no one will leave this place disappointed.
Named after the court jester, Bazbeaux, of Louis XI and Lorenzo de Medici, Bazbeaux’s job was to create exciting, creative new dishes to appease his court. Taking on the spirit of Bazbeaux’s legacy, this pizza joint does just that.
ATMOSPHERE
Located in the heart of Broad Ripple on the Broad Ripple Canal, Bazbeaux has inside and outside seating. The upstairs terrace is perfect for the waning summer evenings and an early fall rendezvous with friends. The wait staff is friendly and the clientele always seems to be lighthearted and fun.
CROWD
Seeing that Bazbeaux is located amidst the Broad Ripple bar scene, its clientele are usually young bar-hoppers, or fun, artsy people who help make the Broad Ripple area so unique. Much like the area, the patrons of Bazbeaux are varied and unique.
SPIRITS
Bazbeaux offers a variety of wine and beer to go along with your lunch or dinner selection. Their wine list has a variety of reds and whites from California, Italy and Australia from around $15-$20 a bottle. Their Super Premium, Premium and Domestic beer list features quality brews from Bloomington, Indiana to Germany and England. Order a bucket of six and get a good deal for your friends.
GRUB
At Bazbeaux, grub is why people come to this joint! Order the specialty pizzas (I recommend the Margherita) or put any topping imaginable on your pie. Pizzas come in 10”, 12” and 16” sizes, and Bazbeaux offers a variety of traditional and specialty toppings. Bazbeaux’s sandwiches feature ham, spinach and tuna selections, and the stromboli is to die for. For veggie lovers, Bazbeaux’s salads are plentiful and can serve as an entrée for the non-famished patrons. Those coming in just for lunch may also order a single slice of pizza, as opposed to a full dish of pie.
PRICES
Expect to pay around $10 for a small specialty pizza, $12 for a medium, and $18 for a large. Prices vary around those figures depending on toppings, etc. Sandwiches and salads go for around $6. Overall, Bazbeaux won’t burn a hole in your wallet. If you’re drinking, you’ll probably spend more money on booze than you would on pizza.
WHY IT'S UNIQUE
Yes, there are other fine dining establishments in the Broad Ripple area, but Bazbeaux creates a unique aesthetic atmosphere that sees no rivalry.
