Pizza Shuttle serves every appetite

Yep, another one of those “best pizza place ever” articles.
I won’t actually come out and declare Pizza Shuttle to be the “best pizza place ever,” but I’d put it in my top two list of favorite Milwaukee pizzerias any day of the week.
Overall, I find it hard to dislike anything about Pizza Shuttle. The staff behind the counter is eclectic and hip, which definitely is a reflection of the general area surrounding the elevated building overlooking Farwell Avenue. They’ve got nearly everything: burgers, pasta, salads, chicken, pitas, ribs, seafood, dogs and brats, pizza that makes me weak at the knees and custard that should make Wisconsin proud. Don’t overlook the appetizers either; the breadsticks (served in an ocean of very unhealthy-looking butter, garlic and herbs), which come with marinara sauce, are just as good as the pizza.
And lemme talk about the pizza for just another second or two. The regular Pizza Shuttle pizza is all good and fun, but it’s the deep-dish square pizza that truly makes the Shuttle worth a regular visit. I’ve tried some wickedly good combos on the squares before, most notably some experimentation with chicken. Good stuff.
Satiated goodness isn’t the only constant at Pizza Shuttle; the concept of a choice is present at every situation. I usually dislike places that have a completely overwhelming array of pizza toppings, beer lists or broad menus, but Pizza Shuttle’s online menu system solves all of those problems. A comprehensive, easy-to-use menu is available through their site, in addition to monthly specials, a custard schedule and the choice to place your order online if all those crazy numbers on the telephone-trola seem confusing to you. Pizza Shuttle even has a fairly expansive delivery range from Hampton Ave. to S. Oklahoma, and as far west as I-43 and 27th Street but it’ll cost you a few extra bucks.
It’s not so bad to actually dine at Pizza Shuttle, either. The Shuttle’s inside dining area is lined with TVs, neato tables, a counter that overlooks the usually pedestrian-riddled sidewalks below, and gasp Ms. Pac-Man. Any pizza place with Ms. Pac-Man gets an instant gold star…I think that’s the rule. There’s a jukebox with a good selection of tunes too, right next to the Ms. Pac-Man machine. Pizza Shuttle also has an elevated outdoor patio with outdoor seating during the warmer months.
So, pick your poison. Pizza served up fresh and in-person (and Ms. Pac-Man), or online (or telephone) ordering delivered to your front door. Either way, I guarantee the grub will be choice.
