If you promise to keep this between you and me, I can let you in on a little secret. Can I trust you? OK, lean in close and keep this between us. DO NOT TELL ANYONE, unless you are bringing them with you as a form of protection.

Secretly hidden inside the "International Exports Ltd." building on Front Street, in downtown Milwaukee, the Safe House is an exceedingly popular spy-themed restaurant/night spot that has been a part of the great city since 1966, when it first began opening its secret doors to hungry and thirsty agents wandering the downtown streets.

You will never find a sign advertising "Safe House," as it strives to keep its identity hidden from those trying to bank on its secrets. If you are lucky enough to figure out that the side door in the dark alley is actually more than just a door, then you will be one step closer to experiences the inside of one of the coolest hangouts in the entire Midwest.

After finding the door and opening the door carefully, you will be greeted by a secret agent ready to allow you access to the underground club. But before he grants your entrance, you must first tell him the password. Unfortunately, Lumino Magazine has been sworn not to give the password, but if you ask around, I can almost guarantee you that you will figure it out. (Unless of an extremely rare case, the club has not rejected someone from entering)

Once you have entered, you are trusted into a breathtaking atmosphere sure to knock your socks off with its impressive décor and hidden treasures. As far as alcohol is concerned, the Safe House has plenty to offer, however, be aware that there is a higher price for this quality of entertainment – drinks are a little pricey here, but worth it.

I recommend the "Top Secret," priced at $6.50. I can’t tell you much about it because, "Even the bartender doesn’t know what’s in this one! WARNING! Used as truth serum by the unscrupulous!" Like I said, can’t tell you too much.

If you are not that daring, the dive your mouth into the "Goldeneye," also $6.50, as it is "Code name for Ian Fleming’s Safe House in Jamaica. A spy’ced island refreshment."

If you are more of a beer person, like myself, then try the "Code Beer," costing $5.25 for the initial mug, and then only $2.50 for refills. Drink a few dozen of these, and you are saving a butt load of money.

After you have had a few drinks, venture onto the dance floor for live DJ dancing on Friday and Saturdays. And then after getting your grove on, check out "The Company Store," a gift shop that offers some interesting purchasing options.

Milwaukee’s Safe House should be a stop on everyone’s agenda. No matter where you live, making a weekend trip to Milwaukee to experience this entertaining monument is worth your time. Check it out, but don’t tell anyone about it!
