Jeni began his career in stand-up in 1988 on HBO’s “12th Annual Young Comedian’s Special.” By the early 90’s, Jeni had gained notoriety for his stand up show “Platypus Man,” which was filmed right here in Chicago at the Park West Theater.
Over the years Jeni would appear in many television shows making notable guest appearances in such shows as “Married With Children,” “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist,” and most recently “Everybody Hates Chris,” produced by his close friend Chris Rock. His career was not only in front of the stage but behind it as well working on various projects as a writer and producer for projects such as “The 77th Annual Academy Awards.”
Jeni has never strayed far from the stage as a stand up comic and it is there where our story comes full circle. Lumino Magazine was set to interview Jeni for his upcoming show last weekend at The Improv in Schaumburg when Jeni mysteriously became ill and was unable to appear. It is with our deepest regrets that we inform our readers of his sad departure; may he be in a better place.
