The Rhythm Room could very well be the classiest bar in the city that has yet to be discovered by gobs of people. The best part – you can watch a movie and then go get a drink, or you can get a drink and then go watch a movie, all under the comfort of one building – as the Century Theatres are connected to this hot spot.
ATOMSPHERE
Perfect, well as perfect as can be. Modern interior with dimmed lights; a bar built in front of giant windows that cover the entire bar; a nice and clean bathroom; gigantic movie posters decorating the walls; giant couches and big fluffy chairs for seating; and a sea of alcoholic options for your taste buds. Once again, um, perfect.
CROWD
The people are awesome, and usually discussing the latest movies, which is always entertaining, even when it’s the world’s worst chick flick. And, I have to be honest, I have seen some damn fine waitresses there (oh, you know who you are). The crowd is usually fairly well dressed, especially since it is Evanston. The Rhythm Room is basically your favorite coffee shop without the coffee. Again, perfect.
ENTERTAINMENT / EVENTS
Live jazz music and expert piano players.
SPIRITS
The bar specializes in martinis, but has basically every drink ever imaginable. I once asked for a snake river cell phone (random words) and actually got a drink – makes no sense, but I just went with it.
GRUB
They only serve appetizers, but they are damn good and even a little sophisticated. If you want dinner, Wolfgang Puck’s is downstairs.
PRICES
You will be surprised when you see the bill, because for a place this classy, you just won’t understand how you got away with such a cheap bill. And, the food isn’t overly priced as well – and comes in nice, large portions.
WHY IT’S UNIQUE
If everything above isn’t enough, just remember it is connected to a movie theatre. I have to say that makes The Rhythm room pretty impressive.
