Horan’s is definitely known for it’s older crowd, however, it has one of the better beer gardens on the strip. The only problem with the beer garden, law makes it shut down at midnight, while the bar stays hoppin’ far into the night. On Saturday’s, Forest Park’s worst singers definitely try their renditions of Madonna’s “Material Girl” (um, I’ve heard the worst), but that’s also one of the more attractive entertainment features of this bar.

ATMOSPHERE
Inside, it feels like a bar that got trapped in the 80s and never has undergone a makeover. Outside, the beer garden is trendy and definitely perfect (yes, I said perfect) for a night of outdoor beverages.
CROWD
Much older than some of the college spots along the Forest Park strip, but definitely not turn off old. The regulars have their seats, like in Cheers, but if you are a stranger, they are always glad you came.
SPIRTS/GRUB
Food is good and the drinks are great. Solid selection, including my new favorite, Heineken Light – yum.
PRICES
Whenever I go to Horan’s, I never leave feeling like I just spent half my paycheck. It is definitely nice to have that old school bar that doesn’t over charge for the need to drink (I meant desire).
WHY IT’S UNIQUE
I have no problem awarding Horan’s the best beer garden on the stretch. Relaxin’ and maxin’ all cool – to the extreme. |
Stay Away Written by Guest on 2008-08-28 00:22:31 With all the places on Madison Street, you are better off passing this one up. The atmosphere is old, food is fair, service is slow. The place is really cheap. The children's menu is the same price as the adult menu, warm food was served cold, price charged was different from menu and we were cheated when we tried to use a coupon. Go a few doors down the block, you;ll be happy you did! |
