Personally, I love Mexican food. I love cold Mexican food in the morning, a big burrito for lunch and some enchiladas, rice and beans for dinner. In fact, I think I am an honorary Mexican - how you like them apples? And, when it's my birthday, there is no better place to visit than Mi Tierra - in the heart of Lake View on Belmont. When it's your birthday, you get the hook up at this great eats place - a sombrero and a shot of tequila. How sweet, eh?

Mi Tierra
1039 W. Belmont Ave
Chicago, IL 60657
(773) 929-7955
Hours:
10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday
ATMOSPHERE

I love when a restaurant looks and feels authentic - and Mi Tierra definitely fits this bill. When dining in the restaurant, you feel as if you have been catapulted to Mexico, as the tile on the wall, fountain, wood floors, and decorations (anyone up for crushing a piņata?) make this place rock with Mexican culture.

CROWD

Mexican food is a class of food that transcends across every demographic and Mi Tierra follows that path with a packed house on pretty much every night with people of all races ready to grub it up on some great food. Every time I have visited this great taste I have seen some sort of large group of people dining and enjoying the free chips and salsa. Everyone is loud, so don't expect a quiet romantic dinner.

SPIRITS/GRUB

Mi Tierra's menu is packed with 88 dishes with great options of appetizers, beef, chicken and seafood. Personally, I enjoy the many, many choices of burritos. Yum, I am actually craving Mi Tierra as I write this.

PRICES

The prices are very, very reasonable and not a restaurant that will break your bank, that is if you just stick to the food. And the drink prices are just as reasonable, but, if you are in a very large group and the pitchers of margaritas are flowing, then watch out (my group's bill jumped to over $300).

WHY IT'S UNIQUE

This is a simple Mexican restaurant that feels and tastes authentic. How's that?
