You’ll find this chill spot in Wicker Park nestled next to Reckless Records and across from American Apparel and the Earwax Café. I first found myself here after a lazy day of shopping on a Sunday afternoon. This spot topped off a luxurious day yet was priced to accommodate my lack of funds after a spending spree. There is way more here than I ever expected in the way of entertainment and international menu selections. Any spot that offers salmon benedict at one hour and jamming local DJs at another is a winner with me.

ATMOSPHERE Beautiful wood paneled walls, lounge and booth seating and minimalistic artwork provide diners and drinkers with a relaxed spot to partake. A large projection screen and comfy lounge-style benches add a contemporary touch for late night partying too. The bar could be in your own basement with long cabinets and ample seating. The mood they’ve got here works for their weekend brunches but can easily be transformed into a sexy night spot for sipping and maybe some light booty-shaking.
CROWDMorning brunch guests include youngsters and middle-aged professionals enjoying a classy morning off. I saw more than a few hipsters donning modern mullets and straight leg jeans. At night feel at home in vintage clothing, perhaps purchased at many of the shops directly across the street. There is no pressure to fit in and plenty of room for comfortable hob-nobbing. Knowledge of the local music scene will get you in good here.
ENTERTAIMENT AND EVENTS
Upon entering for brunch I was both delighted and surprised to find a d.j. already in action. There is a different guest spinner every night, some local and some out-of-towners just passing through. You are going to get a different style each evening depending on who’s working the turntables. Their large projection screen displays trippy, oozing patterns perfect for zoning out while nibbling and drinking. They’re not going to go out of the way to push their events so make sure to ask.
SPIRITS
They’ve got a full bar with six beers on tap. If you make it in for brunch make sure to try their lychee mimosa. They leave the juicy white fruit right inside the glass. Their raspberry Bellini is a real treat too. I’d definitely recommend trying a cocktail over anything else.
GRUB
The food here is out of this world. Actually, it’s from all over the world! Their brunch menu includes tasty egg dishes from Japan, Korea, and Argentina. Don’t be fooled by the mild appearance of the yucca-potatoes; those suckers have a real kick! Their dinner menu is organized into thirds with an “after thirds” dessert menu. Try their Chinese sticky buns or Wasabi fries until 1 a.m. For dinner step outside the box and dip into their Quinoa stew. They also have homemade mojito ice cream. Their menu is stellar with treats from South America to Southeast Asia. The quick and friendly service is a special bonus.
PRICES
Their menu is well priced, ranging from three dollars for a first course to 15 dollars for grilled salmon curry. We had brunch for two with drinks for less than 35 dollars. Expect to spend just a touch more for dinner. Feeling chic without feeling broke is one of my main criteria.
WHY IT'S UNIQUE
This is a super hot spot waiting to happen. You can try food from over seven countries both in the morning and at night. Listening to retro ’70s rock on the turntables and eating eggs is a special treat. There aren’t many places in the city that can cater to your needs at all hours of the day. You’ve got to try this place. You won’t be disappointed!
