When it comes to greasy spoons, Chicago has more than it's share. However, there are a few that stand out above the rest. The Hollywood Grill is one of those few. Sitting at the corner of Ashland and North, is the best damn place to grab grub in the wee hours.

ATMOSPHERE

Chock full of kitsch and retro appeal, the Hollywood resembles a circa 1950's malt shop. Teal, Pink, and Silver adorn nearly everything from floor to ceiling. The walls are crammed full of pictures, memorabilia, and items that would be considered tacky anywhere else but here.

CROWD

It seems to me that some of the most successful places have managed to create a place where everybody feels comfortable. The Hollywood is a prime example of this, as everybody from West Town seems to think this is a great place to hang out.

ENTERTAINMENT / EVENTS

Come here Sober and watch the drunks, or vice versa.

SPIRITS

Actually, they do have beer. On tap, cold, Domestic Beer. In case you didn't have enough watered down Miller and Bud while you were out, you can grab another here.

GRUB

Well here's the real story, they've got a little bit of everything. It's all pretty tasty, but it ain't gourmet either. Burgers are better than average but breakfast is the real deal; served up all day everyday, in about 3,000 different combinations. Nothing tastes as good as a 3AM breakfast when you've got a belly full of beer.

PRICES

Dirt Cheap. Check out the specials if you want but the regular stuff won't cost more than a saw buck for a complete meal.

WHY IT'S UNIQUE

One of the few places in Wicker Park/Bucktown/East Village/Noble Square that is open all night, and they still serve up great chow. This place is a staple of Late Night Culture and a Mecca for Road Crews, Emergency Workers, Partiers, and all else who live mostly at night. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
