Often compared to Depeche Mode and inspired by the synthetic beats of Joy Division, frontman Justin Warfield and his band She Wants Revenge went on around 5:30 on Sunday and definitely conquered the challenge of making a crowd of hot and exhausted festival-goers emulate the hip-shaking that Warfield was doing onstage.

Surely this was their intention, since they have been quoted as saying “We just wanted to make girls dance and cry,” regarding their recently released self-titled album on Geffen.
While the Los Angeles duo did cover “I don't Want to Fall in Love” by Depeche Mode, Warfield and bassist Adam 12 swear that their music is not a purposeful revival of 80's pop music that people often claim they sound like. Warfield was actually a rapper before he started SWR, putting out a 1993 album produced by Prince Paul, “My Field Trip to Planet 9.” So give him some credit. He has rhythm-that doesn't mean he wants to be another Madonna, or even a new version of The Cure.
The show ended with a strong performance of their hit single “Tear You Apart” that the audience sang/shouted along to: “I want to hold you close/soft breath, beating heart/as I whisper in your ear/I want to fucking tear you apart.” I don't know if I'd say they tore Lollapalooza apart, but they definitely accomplished at least half of what they set out for: to make girls (and some boys) dance.
