Anthrax slides through U.S. Print E-mail

The CDC has probably declared Chicago a Biohazard zone due to Anthrax performing one-third of its U.S. tour dates (two shows), in this town. What about the rest of the states, are we still that afraid of contamination?

Seriously, have we forgotten that this band solidified the modern metal aspect of the music industry? You wouldn’t have bands like Faith No More, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Pantera/Damageplan, Slipknot or a slew of other bands that have followed without Anthrax’s contributions.

House of Blues
Chicago, Ill.

Setlist
“Among the living”
“Got the time”
“A.I.R.”
“Madhouse”
“N.F.L.”
“Antisocial”
“Lone justice”
“Deathrider”
“Medusa”
“In my world”
“Indians”
“Be all end all “
I”'m the man”
Although there are those who would spit on my grave at the mere mention of these bands being grouped together, there is no question of the impact that the band has had on the music industry. They even teamed up with Public Enemy for some rap/metal songs.

Through it all, the band never really took themselves too seriously. But as with all corrosive entities there can be some breakdown, but luckily Joey Belladonna, Frank Bello, Charlie Benante, Scott Ian and Dan Spitz have reunited to reinfect their fans with a healthy dose of Metal.

The problem is that Anthrax is running away to do some festival gigs in Europe this summer and then stopping by the states to do about 3 west coast gigs. What’s the deal? There is, however, a rumor that they might join Ozzfest this year. The jury is still out, but that would be a great show.
