Audiences can see something special in special comedians. For the last 10 years names like Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jon Stewart, Adam Sandler and Mr. Ricky Bobby, Will Ferrell have held down the comedy fort. And now, comedians like Dave Chappelle and Dane Cook are taking center stage. However, the stage is not yet full, as comedy fans around the world search for more on the next frontier.

For Pablo Francisco, now is his time, as the 20-year-old has created a stronghold on a new bandwagon, as proven by his performance at The Improv, Chicago’s new top venue for comedic performances.
Before Francisco rocked the stage with his off-the-wall sound effects and spoofing of actors another comedian took her shots at laugher – Tracey Ashley, a local talent who says she is 73 years old on her MySpace page. Ashley, just like many of today’s comedians, toyed with some racist jokes throughout her opening set, which struck some serious laughter from the packed Sunday night crowd. After telling a story about an Asian parking attendant that looked like Mr. Miyagi, the crowd busted out in laugher when Ashley closed the joke saying Mr. Miyagi snapped back and called her Aunt Jemima.
Ashley set the stage for the headliner, Francisco, the comedian everyone was eagerly awaiting for some pee in the pants humor.
Francisco was sharp and near perfect as he did his classic Arnold Schwarzenegger impression and his vocal masterpiece of “The Movie Guy”. His vocals of the whore girlfriend and an Indian singing karaoke were untouchable. His performance, to say the least, was top notch. And even more appealing was his connection with the crowd and desire to be one with his fans (as showcased by his autograph signing afterward and him pausing the show to look at Lumino’s photographer Barry Brecheisen and say “Take the fucking picture” jokingly).
Francisco is getting bigger and bigger by the second. Expect his name to be in the mix of the young up and comers in the comedy world as the Tucson native continues to pay his dues on the stand up circuit before his Comedy Central special DVD hits the world in November. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
