What is the band’s connection to Chicago?
We are all from Elmhurst, Illinois.
Describe your sound and name?
Post-punk, Blondie, a little bit of new order, and stripped-down new wave. The name comes from an interview with Vincent price. Somehow it got on the topic of Shakespeare that focused specifically on Romeo and Juliet. He said that in his opinion Romeo was not the greatest romantic hero or figure of literature. He stole Juliet from the Capilet family and it wasn’t done under any type of regulation. He was essentially stealing her, making him more of a villain than a hero.
What can we expect from your live show?
Hopefully a lot of dancing and energy. It’s different. We’ve played around in Minnesota and the crowd there, for some reason, the crowd everywhere else usually gets a lot more into the music. It seems like Chicago crowds treat music more like an art gallery where they sit there and just watch. You can see in their eyes they are judging what they like and what they don’t like. We play a lot of all ages shows and that’s how I’ve always viewed it from my perspective looking out on the audience. Usually we get the crowd going. We’ll invite people on stage and stuff so it’s just a good time.
What is your favorite Chicago venue?
The Metro, also the Beat Kitchen is nice. We’ve played almost all the big ones in Chicago with the exception of the Aragon and the Riv.
Where do you hope to take the band in the future?
As far as possible. We wanna get signed, we’d like to be on a label, we’d like to tour the country. It’s not anything wild or extravagant. It’s basically what every band would like to do - live off the music.
