Chances are anyone who’s been a fan of the local music scene over the past four years has seen the name Stellar Road shining brightly from a venue’s marquee. Even those who aren’t familiar with the Chi-town spectrum are likely to have heard of the band given its enormous opening act slot for Bon Jovi at Soldier Field over this past summer. The group’s vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jack Daly recently checked in to share the skinny on Stellar Road’s sound, along with its members’ goals of becoming touring titans.

But before hitting the road for an extensive tour in support of an upcoming sophomore CD, the gang looks forward to hanging with the Lumino gang to spread some holiday cheer.

What is the band’s connection to Chicago?

Stellar Road has been playing clubs, venues, basements... All over the Chicagoland area for over five years. All of us live within twenty miles of the city and we all enjoy playing in the greatest city in the world.

Describe your sound and name?

Described as a “jammy-acoustic-roots-tock” band in live settings and More of a pop-rock feel on record... We really don't fit into a concrete or particular niche. We just write what we feel and whatever happens happens. As we write more our song repertoire becomes more diverse and interesting. From reggae to country...It’s all in there. I think our name represents where we want to be as a band. Always on the right path.

What can we expect from your live show?

You can expect us to “toy around” with our songs...You’ll rarely hear the same song the same way. Keeps us fresh and on our toes. Our live show is where we feel most comfortable. We love to challenge each other on stage and really take our instruments and songs to new places.

What is your favorite Chicago venue?

I love playing at House of Blues, Joe's and Durty Nellie’s.

Where do you hope to take the band in the future?

On the road a lot more. “Let's get in the van.”

• Doors open at 6 pm. Tickets available online at www.AbbeyPub.com or at the door.
