A usual Sunday for me consists of detoxing from the previous three nights of debauchery, but now I find myself staying in Saturday nights prepping myself for a Sunday chopped full of cold beers and bar food. I feel it is my duty to be out in my vintage Bears hoody rooting on our hometown squad as they return to glory and national respect. And say what you want, but I feel in my heart that the Bears are going to Miami.
It is hard to explain the atmosphere in the bar at a Bears game; it is always a little uneasy when Grossman’s behind center, but when the D rolls onto the field it is like the volume knob is slammed to the right. Every big hit and sack is followed by half-connected high fives and random Madden-isms. For those unfamiliar with the Sega Genesis Madden days, a few go like this: “Where’d that truck come from!?!”, the later Tough-Actin’ Tinactin plug “BOOM!!!”, and my personal favorite, “He didn’t see it but I guarantee he felt it!!!” But there’s nothing like a bar full of strangers and a few familiar faces uniting to cheer on a team that we’ve all stood by during the years and years of losing seasons, for we all deserve to have this opportunity to be a part of history. So I ask everyone out there to strap on your favorite Bears gear and head out to your local establishment of choice and get crazy tomorrow, for I feel this will be a season to remember. BEAR DOWN!!!
