Last night, Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the so-called current incarnation was nowhere to be seen or heard. Even though I’m more of a Diamond Dave era Van Halen fan, you have to give Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony respect for showing up. Apparently David Lee Roth was invited too and asked to sing but bickered over what song he would and would not perform. So kudos for Hagar and Anthony for coming out and not only representing but performing “Why Can’t This Be Love” with Velvet Revolver, who was asked to play after Van Halen 4.0 pulled out last minute.
Eddie I’m happy you are getting help for your alcoholism and I hope you win the battle. When you do, don’t let Dave drive you back to the bottle. And oh, one more thing - do the right thing with the reunion and ask Michael Anthony to come along for the fun as well. Let’s have a real reunion of the original line-up and perhaps have Wolfy come out for a few songs. That’s the show I want to spend my money on, don't you?

Lookit the hall of shame is a joke anyway. I wish Ed the best of luck and hope he gets himself strait. I think that they should have pulled a Sex Pistols and not have showed at all, but I understand Sam and Mike's decision to want to be there.
As far as Dave goes they should have worked with him and let him picked a song he wanted to do he deserved to preformed he help define the face of MTV in the 80's they just wanted to be jerks.
I hope when Eddie gets strait he knows that a 15 year old can't replace the greatest background vocalist in rock and invite Mike back in the band. He is also one of the most solid bassist in rock. I have seen him many times so I know. |

just when you think you are going to finally going to see a moment in time that is so loong overdue. MY heroes screw it up once again. I realize ED is sick, but he's been drunk for every classic VH album and tour. put the bottle down, hop on aplane with your brother, and give the people what they want! every band with past riffs/personal problems/demons finds a way to suck it up for one night and the mighty VH, can't celebrate their biggest accolade by exploding on stage with Sammy and Dave. I whole heartly agree with Roth for not playing with fucking Velvet Revolver on a Kinks song, and I'm pissed we didn't get to hear he's would- be classic acceptance speech. It was like watching the bizarro world when only m.anthony and Hagar took the stage.what a dry hump! With the now defunct tour with Roth on another back burner, these guys are losing precious sand in the hour glass. And I'm not getting any younger either dam it. Raaanntt Neerrr!!!!!!!!!! |

It all just boils down to ego! Nobody can put them aside for long enough because they all want to be the boss. Eddie feels it's his band (which it kind of is) but they wouldn't have had the success they did, without Roth. Too bad though, they were a rockin band and still could be entertaining today |

I was a big VH fan when I was young. This was just another example of my youth slipping away. Mike and Sammy I did enjoy seeing "jam" with with Paul Schaffer's house band. Funny thing was it went on without any rehersal true pros.
Mike and Sammy I take my hat off to you guys nice job.
Dave we needed you there in a big way last night and you let us as fans down again.

I have always been a Van halen fan since i was a kid, first with Roth fronting the band and then Sammy. But, with Eddie hitting bottom after years of substance abuse and dilutions of granture, i am affraid that the best years of Van Halen as a band are gone which is ashame for all fans. |

My theory is that they probably got together once before the plan of this tour to see if there was any music and stage chemistry left and those attendance cringed when what they saw was a wino and a clown parading on stage, taking swipes at each other, trying to imitate some 80s glory MTV moment and said "Nah, not a good idea guys". And so now they let the bickering become the focus and save themselves the embarrassment of making total fools of themselves. Maybe thats a good thing. |

But as a musician and lifetime music fan myself, let me just say that this band is not relevant, and is way overrated. Sure, Eddie can shred. But that self-indulgent style has been ridiculous and even mocked for almost 20 years now. Get out of the 80s.
Eddie is a talented guitarist who should have moved on to blues or something that isn't stuck in 1982.
I give the band credit for being original and therefore influential. But their time is gone. If I want to hear anything from them ever again it would be a reunion with Dave and Eddie as essentials. I don't give a crap about the other guys. And I'd want to only hear their hits. If they write anything new I'm sure it will be '80s-sounding and be horrible. |

What an embarrasment watching that induction of Van Halen into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the other night. This is one of the greatest rock bands of our time, that should have been the headliners of the ceremony. There is no excuses for this band not to be able to get together for a few hours on one special night. As a fan, I don't care if they get back together with DLR or not. I've givin up that ever happening. It sure would of been great to see all of them together putting all of there differences aside and performing together. They blew it again. This was a once in a lifetime chance that they will never get back and I am sure one that they will regret. I take my hat off to Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony for showing up and representing the band. Though you can tell they were unconfortable, they showed a lot of class. I will always love there music but I have lost a lot of respect for the Van Halen brothers and David Lee Roth. Good luck with the rehab Eddie. I hope you find peace and a new ego when you get out. |

Me and my buds would party everyday and listen to vintage van halen drinkin' jack and skippin' school. At 41, I am still doin' the same shit except I am a lawyer now and have a family. I tend to get side tracked when I get a call from one of my buds and when we get the jack out...we listen to van halen and talk about the crazy shit we used to do back in the 80's. This message goes to Dave, Eddie, Alex and Michael: You still have loyal fans out there and we are not getting any younger. Please...do it for the fans that put you on the map and better yet...do it for yourselves! You 4 are what rock is all about! I told my wife 15 years ago that I would ride a 10-speed bike to China if van halen ever reunited. Been a fan for many years. Like both the Roth and the Sammy years. A band is still a team. In order to be on top you all have to perform like it. Congratulations on the Hall of Fame induction to all of you. Remember, the fans are who put you there. I would like to see a riunion tour with ALL members, Dave, Sammy, Alex, Michael and Eddie. It would be awesome if you could all be together and get along. It would also be historic. Do this while you guys still can. Life is short, thank GOD where you guys are at and how you got there. Thank your fans and give us a good show. Best wishes to Eddie and all others who deal with these kinds of issues. I just saw the 2007 RnR Hall of Fame induction and the induction of VH was really f'ing SAD! There was no current members of VH there. Eddie is in rehab, I heard that Roth was not allowed to attend (i dont know it that is true), Mike showed up and Sammy showed up. Where in the f$@k was Al?? what in the hell was he doing?? I saw a comedy bit on VHND.COM where all of them were on the Dr. Phil show. YES!! THAT IS A GREAT IDEA! Get all these f**kers on the Dr. Phil show and settle this crap once and for all. I sick and tired of being teased with Roth/VH reunion tour every few years. Eddie needs to get his head out his ass. He has 2 options right now. Tour with Roth or dont tour at all. We all know what happened when Gary was the frontman. It was not a great fit. Well I can go on and on about VH over the last 10 years, but I dont want to spend that much time typing.
