Spring is here and with that comes this year’s second sweet holiday. Peter Cottontail is hopping through Chicago bringing wonderful chocolate treats for Easter, April 8. Here are a couple stores that Lumino feels are the places to fill your Easter baskets.

Long Grove Confectionery Company

Hop your way over to Long Grove Confectionery Company. Located in the Ogilvie Transportation Center, Long Grove offers varieties of animal shaped chocolate goodies like milk chocolate ducks and sheep wearing shades ($6.50). Delicious Hippity Hop Pops ($7.50) and Karrot Kids ($5) will satisfy any chocolate craving. For the complete package, check out Long Grove’s Easter Treat Pail ($15) for one stop shopping. To add decorations to your basket, pick up some spring colored chocolate pretzel rods ($8 each). They are so intricately hand made they could be mistaken for a flower bouquet.

Vosges Haut-Chocolaut
520 N. Michigan
(312) 644-9450
Hours: Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

If luxury chocolates fit your fancy, stop by Vosges to enjoy solid chocolate flop eared bunnies in five flavors ($9.50). For an alternative to the traditional Easter basket, check out the Easter Hatbox ($77). This “basket” contains 18 pieces from the Wink of the Rabbit chocolate collection, two Exotic bunnies and ˝ pound of toffee. Boxes seem to be Vosges’s Easter theme, so candy bar lovers will definitely enjoy Exotic Candy in a Box ($31). There are three different sets to choose from. Truffle collections range from 9 to 16 piece sets from $10.50 to $275. For adult egg hunters, try the Wine + Chocolate gift box. Enjoy red or white wine or champagne with chocolate truffles.

Hours: Monday – Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Thursday – Saturday, 6 a.m. to Midnight; Sunday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Your chocolate bunnies might be lonesome in their baskets so add Chicago Chocolate Company’s “churtles" into the mix. Choose from dark, milk, and white chocolates filled with pecans and caramel for $16. You can give more flavors to your basket by including Chicago Company’s Crunches. Crunches will melt your hearts with their gourmet caramel corn sprinkled with milk chocolates ($8). For strictly candy bar lovers, treat them to the smooth oh so tasty chocolate bar ($2.50).
