If you are like me, then you realize that Mother’s Day is coming up by the Thursday before, if you are lucky. At this point the dining options start to dwindle as places which take reservations have filled up and those that don’t are at least forty-five minutes until you can get seated on this restaurateur’s holiday. And to think, last year you swore you wouldn’t get stuck at Taco Bell again. Don’t give up quite yet! There are boatloads of options which offer unusual and fun ways to spend time with that woman who put up with so much over the years.
Mi Tierra: There’s nothing that says you can’t have some fun while spending time with mom. Take her to Mi Tierra and enjoy live music while enjoying a heaping pile of chips and salsa. Nothing is quite as memorable as spicy food!
Goose Island: Beer and food, what else do you need? For the mom who enjoys a fine beer as much as others enjoy wine Goose Island’s pubs are the perfect spot. If she’s not a beer fan the Goose Island house Root Beer and soda options are a great pickup.
Howl at the Moon: For the mom who seems to have boundless energy and a penchant for bursting into song, this spot is a must stop. A piano bar at its core Howl at the Moon turns into Karaoke mayhem on Sundays. Karaoke not her thing, then stop by later in the evening, grab her favorite martini and watch as the pianos go to town.
Smoke Daddy: While the fact that you’re out of the house should have mom in good spirits, the blues can be the perfect accoutrement to a rib busting meal. From nachos to burgers there’s a ton of stuff to slather in barbeque here. Nothing quite says family togetherness quite like licking the fingers clean after a slab of ribs.
Coffee Coffee Coffee!: If high energy entertainment and beer aren’t her cup of tea, then how about a… well, cup of tea? Drop into one of our favorite coffee spots, grab a mug and finish apologizing for the time you wrecked her car. It’s a great start before wandering around town or the perfect atmosphere to just spend time with that woman who has done so much for so little. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
