The Drink: Stiegl Radler
Where to get it:
Quenchers Saloon

Essentially, a radler or shandy is a light beer, like a lager, mixed with some sort of juice or soda. There are as many versions as there are people, but one of my favorites is Stiegl’s Radler (available only in bottles). This 50/50 mixture of German style lager and lemon soda is low on calories and alcohol which makes for a refreshing summer favorite. Enjoying a Stiegl in the comfort of Quenchers’ numerous couches, ice cold air conditioning, and manageable summer crowds is a great way to beat the heat and the rush.

The infamous “Beergarita” is a must try this summer! Many have tried and many have failed to make this bastard-child of Classic Margarita and Ice Cold Beer, but success is at hand! When done right, this one is seriously en fuego! The smallBAR version of this much sought after cocktail is the best around, going equally as well with brunch, lunch, or dinner as it does on it’s own. When at smallBAR, ask for Kerry and his version of the “Beergarita”.
The Drink: Bomb Pop
Where to get it:
Rockit Bar and Grill
22 W Hubbard St
www.rockitbarandgrill.com
Nothing mixes childhood memories with booze in quite the way that the bomb pop does. Featuring, Blue caracao, Stoli Razberi, Bacardi Limon, this drink is sure to cause some explosions for you. The real scoop here is that this drink really does taste just like a bomb pop would taste, and if it’s layered just right, looks a lot like a bomb pop would look. Appropriately, the best place to seek out these incendiary cocktails is Rockit, a club which needs no further introduction.

Mojito’s are a classic summer time drink, but for a new twist on these Cuban imports, try them with Mango Rum and Agave Nectar at Salud. Famous for it’s Tequilla’s, This Wicker Park lounge's version of the Mojito will have you asking, “Tequilla what?”
Side note, if a classic margarita you seek, then seek no further for a kick ass Margarita at Salud.
The Drink: White Sangria
Where to get it:
Sangria
901 W Weed St
(312) 266-1200
www.sangriachicago.com
If red wine is not your bag and you’ve had enough of white wine, or worse yet, spritzers, then perhaps it is a new spirit you seek. The aptly named Sangria offers up a life changing version of the old standard. White Sangria, a combination of white wine, fruit, liqueur, and a hint of effervescence, is cool and refreshing with just enough kick to remind you that you’re still drinking. Better yet, pitchers are half priced on Wednesdays.
