"The Warmth of the Sun"
(Universal)
Released May 22, 2007
The Warmth of the Sun is a companion piece that continues where Sounds Of Summer left off. This new 28-track collection explores more of the deep album cuts and hidden gems then the familiar hits.

The title comes from a song written by both Brian Wilson and Mike Love for their 1964 album, Shut Down Volume 2 and was even a B-side for the song, “Dance, Dance, Dance.” Although this collection doesn’t have the hit factor on its side that doesn’t mean this is a collection of throw away tracks and in fact many of these are single worthy. Some of the songs provided here you may actually recognize more by listening like “All Summer Long” and “Catch A Wave” than the actual song title.

Still, unless you are an ardent fans these songs should be quite new to you. Which is part of the enjoyment to what would have been just another Beach Boys greatest hits collection and they already have plenty of them. These songs, much like the Sounds of Summer compilation, are all hand selected by the Beach Boys themselves and have never sounded better with the new stereo remixes.

Also include on this collection are cover tunes including their take of the Mama’s and Papa’s classic, “California Dreamin'” and the Phil Spector hit by The Crystals, "Then He Kissed Me," re-titled “Then I Kissed Her” off of their 1965 album Summer Days (and Summer Nights!!) with Al Jardine on lead vocals.

The Beach Boys sound never seems to get old and the Warmth of the Sun is the perfect album to listen to on the way to the beach this year and every year there after.
