Potential crackles through the microphone as Ludo takes the stage early into the second day of this Chicago music festival. Billed as an indie rock band it is clear they will not keep that status for long. With a sound somewhere in between hard rock Weezer and They Might Be Giants the band easily gets he audience moving.

Though the first few songs sound pretty much the same the band isn’t shy and clearly loves to play it up for the cameras and fans. Highly structured in their style Ludo exudes a polished structure that quickly draws a crowd ready to dance. Unfortunately the band was pushed off to one of the smaller side stages early on in the day. Like a water balloon ready to blow Ludo seemed too confined to such a small venue.

The crowd seemed more then happy to oblige as Ludo took the energy up a notch with each song played. This is a band that, while great, has to be taken with a grain of salt. Such a band encourages audience participation and with a cross-genre style they are sure to fill up stadiums across the country in no time.

This St. Louis based band is back on tour after completing their second album “Love Me Dead” due out soon. Voted the “Best Rock Band in St. Louis” by the Riverfront Times they have the guts to challenge their listeners. Ludo has even gone so far as to release an album that is mostly operatic. If Ludo comes to your town make sure to check them out before they explode.
