Instantly a huge crowd formed in front of the MySpace stage for what could have arguably been one of the top performances slatted and executed on the premiere stage all weekend long. The Minneapolis-based indie-rock stars Tapes ‘N Tapes showcased a variety of musical talent by exploring various types of musical melodies – both fast and hard and slow and easy.

While the band first broke onto the scene last year with its album “The Loon”, the band was more than ready for its Lollapalooza debut as it announced several times that “this song is one of our new ones”. Giving the taste of the band’s new music was exactly what the crowd had craved, as many sitting in the front row instantly began attempting to sing along with the red headed lead singer – who easily was a crowd pleaser for those ladies who pushed to the front.
One of the more intriguing impressions was that Tapes exemplified its versatility as musicians by utilizing both old school and new wave inspiration to create the sound the boys delivered on stage – and with energy.
Tapes was exactly what the crowd needed to kick off day two of Lollapalooza – a true up-and-comer with actual potential. So many times, Lollapalooza bands are critically acclaimed to be the next big thing, and then two months later no one even has blinked an eye at them. But for Tapes, these guys definitely have the potential to blow up on the music scene and should be a band that will make a return visit to Lollapalooza in the future. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
