A quiet buzz spread throughout the Bud Light stage grass as Interpol took the stage Saturday night. The band was lucky enough to be one of two major headliners for the second day of Lollapolooza competing in the same time slot with the rock/metal band Muse across the park.

Dressed uniformly in black suits and white ties the audience was filled with anticipation – waiting to see just what their beloved band would provide on a 1:30 set list. The moment the first chord was struck it was if a bomb had gone off, fans screamed and arms waved ecstatically. For the past few years Interpol has been a band that turned into a worldwide phenomenon. Entertainment Weekly calls Interpol’s latest release “akin to an artistic explosion”. That description holds perfectly true in concert as much as it does in the studio. Every note the band played out had a hip and edgy vibe to go along with it.
They had come to deliver and deliver they did. Busting out pop favorites “PDA” and “Evil” the band also hit some of their more vintage singles from their discography. Diehard fans knew how to tap into the groove tapping their fingers to the steady rocking beat.
To the dismay of entire audience Interpol only played a one hour set. As if the band knew the injustice of such an act they quickly returned on stage for a pulse pounding half hour encore. If nothing else Interpol whet the appetite of new and old fans alike guaranteeing many sold out performances in Chicago for ages to come. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
