If two words could describe Juliette’s performance in front of Juliette and the Licks, they would be “Holy Shit.” The actress now rock star had an energy that is rarely rivaled these days, and with the 90 degree humidity soaked whether, the level to which she rocked out was astounding.

Her music is purely hard core rock n’ roll. Spending most of the last four years touring Europe, Lollapalooza 2007 was the band’s first big American performance. Taking the stage with a drama all of her own, Juliette screamed, shouted, and sang with abandon. They went through several of their own songs and then covered Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” in a way no one else could. Juliette’s light colored eyes savagely shone through her sweat soaked hair and pink makeup as she sang directly to the crowd, which was pretty substantial for an 11:30 a.m. show.
Drum sticks came flying off the stage into the audience, and at the end of the show, so did Juliette. She jumped into the audience and body surfed her way toward the big screen and somehow managed to stand straight up in the air in the hands of her fans.
Anyone who likes hard core rock n’roll has to check out Juliette and the Licks. Hands down they were my personal favorite at Lollapalooza 2007 – and hands down, they deserved a much later set time in order for maximum exposure, because if Lolla fans like me had the chance to hear this wild child, chances are they would have been hooked immediately. |
