Paolo Nutini Makes ‘Em Scream Print E-mail

If there was anyone at Lollapalooza that could make the girls scream with delight, it was twenty year old Paolo Nutini. The UK singer with the Italian name had a look that made his fans faint. Sweet-faced and tan skinned, Nutini hid his lovely blue eyes for most of the concert, singing with his eyes closed. The only time he opened then was when he shyly addressed the audience in between songs.

Nutini’s music was a sort of folksy rock, which was heavier on the rock end and filled with catchy melodies. His band had plenty of style and rhythm and backed him up just perfectly so that his lovely voice, which is well beyond his twenty years, was able to shine. Here and there, he swigged from a brown bottle that could have contained beer, or could have contained root beer. It’s something we may never know. He was clearly enjoying himself on stage and his enthusiasm came across in his music.

“These Streets,” Nutini’s debut album which came out last year, was a big success in the UK. So far it has helped him get on stage with the Rolling Stones and has brought him all the way to Chicago for Lollapalooza. Hopefully, this isn’t the last we’ll see of Nutini. His style, charm, and beautiful voice make him a welcome addition to Chicago any time.
