Muse Electrifies the Stage, Literally Print E-mail

Muse is definitely a spectacle to behold, in so many ways. They’ve been selling out 75,000 seat stadiums in Europe for years now and it’s pretty obvious why. Between their light show, their intense sound, and their excellent musicianship, Muse is a powerhouse of a band that is getting the recognition it deserves.

Read Lumino Magazine's Lollapalooza coverage all this week! Interviews, concert reviews and more are on their way!

The concert began with a very long quote about human freedoms that came up word by word on the stage screens. Then the stage lit up in all directions. The drum kit was clear, as was the lid to the enormous grand piano, allowing the stage lights to shine through. Mist periodically permeated the stage area and the guys in the band were constantly changing colors, making it difficult to focus on any one thing for too long.

The sound coming from the stage was enormous and seemed far greater than any three-piece could produce. Somehow, though, Muse managed. It didn’t take long for them to whip out the songs that include the intricate piano parts that are often reminiscent of Rachmaninoff, a Russian composer who lived in the early twentieth century.

Despite having to share the time slot with Interpol, Muse managed to pack in a pretty hefty crowd. Photographers were waiting in line for almost an hour to make sure they had the chance to be admitted to the pit, and fans were lining up well in advance to try and get access to the area closest to the stage. The sky finally broke and it rained just before the concert, but just as Muse began to play, the rain let up and everyone was able to enjoy an electrifying show.
