In his usual comic style, Nice Peter entertained a crowd of fans at Subterranean in a way only he can. The “he” of Nice Peter is also known as Pete Shukoff, and is, for the most part, a one man band that stands alone just fine.

Taking the stage at around midnight, Shukoff played for just over an hour, which didn’t seem long enough. The crowd wasn’t huge; it took up mainly the front half of the upstairs room. However, their exuberance more than filled the space as they yelled and screamed and sang along to the Nice Peter songs.
Tunes from his last album like “Spanglish” and “If You Really Love Me,” got the crowd screaming along with lyrics like, “if you really love me and wanna treat me right, you’ll let me put my penis in a different place tonight.” Obviously a romantic, Shukoff has no problem coming up with tons of similar material, all of which is terribly entertaining, assuming you are fairly liberal, open and don’t necessarily like George Dub'Yah. And even if you do fit either of those characteristics, I doubt if Shukoff cares what you think, anyway.
Tonights concert was to help promote Nice Peter’s newest CD, “Suburban Highschool.” Shukoff played a fair amount of the new songs, yet still including the ever popular “50 Cent is a Pussy,” which has garnered him radio interviews and even a few death threats. The evening’s show also included some of Shukoff’s excellent improv and quite a bit of drinking. One might even go so far as to say Shukoff was pretty shnockered by the end of the evening thanks much to his adoring fans.
If you have a chance, I highly recommend Nice Peter. His songs and melodies are catchy, his lyrics are hilarious, and his performances are ridiculously entertaining. His latest album is definitely worth checking out and is available at
