Since this was my twelfth show, I had expectations. And, I am sure all super Dave Matthews Band fans have expectations – very high, and usually unattainable.

Frankly, the new album hasn’t grown on me as much as some of the older stuff, therefore, the music wasn’t as appealing as last year’s summer tour. Of course, this tour is being used as a promotional tour for the new album, “Stand Up,” thus the reason for songs like “American Baby,” “Smooth Rider,” “Stand Up” and others played. The new style they exhibit will take time to get used to.

I can’t complain about the show, however. It was good, solid material and the jam sessions were amazing as usual. I wouldn’t rank the show as my favorite of all-time simply because “Say Goodbye” (Um, basically my favorite song EVER) was not included in the 18-song setlist. DMB did play “All Along the Watchtower,” “Billies” and “Warehouse,” though, which kept me happy.

For the first time as a Dave fan, I sat on the lawn, trying to take a different approach to my listening style. The acoustics sucked. But, that’s expected when watching a show at the Tweeter Center, or pretty much all outdoor venues. But, I must say, the view wasn’t so bad. Sure, I went from being about one foot away from Dave and his boys in the photo pit to being about a quarter of a mile away, but it was a good experience nonetheless.

Out of 12 shows, I would probably rank this right around 8, but as the new album grows on me, so will this show.
