It’s Britney, Bitch Print E-mail
Written by EMILY STEUBER

What more can possibly be said about Britney Spears? You’re probably thinking, that’s easy: the bitch is crazy! Maybe so, but that crazy bitch has just released one hell of an album. After her infamous performance at the VMA’s ended up being a total flop, everyone who liked her single ‘Gimme More’ was too embarrassed to admit it. Well it’s time to come out of the closet kids because it’s ok; there is no doubt that her CD really is good.

"Blackout"
(Jive)
Released October 30, 2007

It’s probably safe to say that not too many guys are going to be driving around blasting Britney’s CD, but this is definitely the kind of music you can dirty dance to at a club, and if you’re looking for a perfect pre-game, getting-ready-to-party vibe, “Blackout” definitely has it. Play any track from this record and, guaranteed, even a wallflower won’t be able to sit still.

Her lyrics aren’t mind-blowing or anything but she says what’s on her mind regarding the madness that’s been surrounding her lately, which takes some big balls. She’s fighting back against the negativity and b.s. from the media, paparazzi, and of course the lovely Mr. K-Fed. Though the lyrics were pretty much exactly what you would’ve expected, the beats are really good. With a handful of producers (including The Neptunes) you wouldn’t expect any less.

A couple of songs like ‘Radar’ and ‘Heaven on Earth’ have a cool Depeche Mode sound, and pretty much the whole album is techno meets 80’s meets hip-hop, which always makes for a good dance-floor session.

Even though a lot of people are anti-Britney because of her antics or parenting skills or whatever, none of that has anything to do with her music, and that becomes obvious when you listen to her album. And let’s not forget that it hit number one on the charts, which is a big, bad “fuck you” to the swarms of Britney-haters out there.

I was just as surprised as the next person that she was even capable of coming out with a good, buzz-worthy album, but the girl totally did it. So now that the smoke has cleared and the album’s been out for a few weeks, don’t be afraid to give her props because she deserves them all the way.

Well I have to say I have it and I'm happy with the way the tracks turned out. I don't love all of them, but do most of them and not ashamed to admit it. If it's good, then it's good! Also I think people buy it for different reasons. Some are girls going to the dance clubs. I'm a guy and I just buy CD's now and then for pure listening enjoyment or for when I'm driving in my car. Gimme More, Piece of Me, Heaven on Earth, toy soldier are really all great to hear. Plus being #1 on many (but not all) charts is a great thing. So there you go, I've admitted it and proud of it! :grin

I LOVE this album. it is brilliant and cannot stop playing it. I have never bought a britney album before although I like her and think she is a nice person, maybe she is not mean enough for the industry but she will be fine if people are nice to her

'Blackout' is one of Britneys best albums. I've been playing it for friends that are 'Britney-haters' and they seem to be really enjoying listening to it. A few of them have even bought the album since. :) GO BRITNEY! :)
YOU GO EMILY!!!!

Nice review but if you don't stop using foul language I am going to give you a crack in the forehead. I also hope Britney makes a huge comeback regardless of what all the loser haters out there think.
AMAZING

BSpears is back and Blackout is great. Who cares if she didn't sing any of the songs....it makes me want to dance around my room in my underwear. Well done Britney.
