This Sunday night Victory Records is holding a final farewell show to local favorites Spitalfield. Formed in the suburbs of Chicago in 1998, by the year 2000 they had released their own single. By 2001 the band put out their film album entitled “Faster Crashes Harder” off the Sinister label. After their second EP got met with rave reviews Spitalfield signed up with the much larger Victory Records. In the coming years they would end up touring with big name bands like Thursday, Piebald and Surgarcult.

The band has becoming as much devoted to their fans as the fans remain devoted to them. Until recently the band has made a point of touring almost non-stop, a feat impossible for many groups. In the Spring of 2005 Spitalfield made the Alternative Press’s list of “Top 100 Bands You Need To Know”. Over the years the band has made a name for itself in Chicago pop music.
Also on Sunday’s bill are local favorites The Audition and The Forecast. The Audition is a Chicago quintet that makes a point of creating a sound that is anything but cookie-cutter. A fusion of: pop, punk, dance and rock give the band a truly unique style. The band has made a name for itself overseas but they remain loyal to their Chicago roots.
The Forecast prides itself on the kind of music you just don’t heard anymore. Many of their songs sing about whiskey and small towns. Hailing from downstate Illinois the band gets most of its material from the landscape of their hometown.
So come out this Sunday to the Metro and see this showcase of Victory Record talent. Make sure to catch this last ever concert by Spitalfield as well. Once you miss it, there is no going back. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
