"Dirt" Never Felt So Good Print E-mail

Tough as nails Lucy Spiller, the editor-in-chief of the tabloid magazine DirtNow, is a far cry from the lovable but neurotic chef Monica Geller, which Courtney Cox Arquette played for ten season’s on Friends. Courtney Cox Arquette is back on the small screen this time on F/X playing the workaholic editor of LA’s glossy tabloid magazine, DirtNow. Each week Dirt paints a dark picture of the dog eats dog work of the Hollywood wannabes and the tabloids that stalk them.

Starring Courteney Cox Arquette, Ian Hart, Laura Allen, Will McCormack, Josh Stewart and Jeffrey Nordling
Studio FX Network

Cox’s Lucy Spiller is reminiscent to the reporter she played in the Scream franchise with a lot more baggage to bear. Each week her character pushes the envelope to find the story that can make or ruin a career. Along for the ride is her faithful stalkerazzi photographer Don Konkey. A not so subtle name reference to the bottom feeder aspect of a paparazzi. Along with being a photographer, DK is also suffering from schizophrenia and is constantly going off his meds with sometimes funny but often scary results.

Dirt has proved to be yet another successful show for the FX network. A network that continues to prove they might be the best network out there for dramas. Shows like The Shield, Rescue Me and their latest Damages, are the best written and most original shows on TV today.

Now if you missed the first season of Dirt never fear, all thirteen episodes are now available on a four disc DVD set complete with bonus features. Catch up or get yourself acquainted with the world of Dirt. The first season had special appearances by the likes of Paul Reuben’s aka Pee Wee Herman, actor/director Vincent Gallo and even a special appearance and lesbian kiss with ex-Friends star Jennifer Aniston. If that isn’t enough we have documentaries on the making of the show, real life stories examining the world of celebrity gossip and a nice collection of deleted scenes.

Dirt is an edgy show that seems to spill more venom for the wannabe movie stars than the tabloids. Regardless, much like the real life tabloids, Dirt draws you in and makes you hungry for more. I myself can’t wait for season two in 2008.
