Can you feel it? Summer is finally here. That buzz just radiates around the city into every home and into the streets. The weather may still be little cold but that won’t stop them from partying and celebrating the new season.

Make sure to check out Columbia College’s all day end of school celebration this Friday. Called “Manifest,” this once a year extravaganza showcases the work of Columbia College students and alumni. Events include the Spectacle Fortuna, a parade of giant puppets and other eclectic visual arts starting at 6:45 p.m. off of Balbo Drive and Washington Avenue. The Columbia College campus is located in the South Loop at 600 S. Michigan Ave with events happening all over the area. Call 312-663-1600 for more information.

Looking to satisfy your inner foodie? Come help support fresh food production by shopping at the Chicago Green City Market (1750 N. Clark) this Saturday morning. Starting bright and early at seven o’clock the market serves up a healthy variety of organic cheeses, breads, fruit and even beef for the meat lover in you.

The big musical act of this week is, of course, The Cure. Playing this Saturday at the Allstate Arena these poster boys of 80’s emo rock will play some classics and hopefully debut some new tunes from their upcoming album. Arrive early the parking lot is going to fill up fast.

For those looking for a unique twist on the average art show check out Holistic Art by Shayna Bracha Farber this Thursday at the Frame Warehouse (814 Dempster, Evanston). Shayna Bracha Farber combines the spiritual with the artistic. This limited engagement goes from May 22nd until June 2nd so check out it while you can. Call 847-869-5210 for more info or check out the website to view some pieces before the show www.shaynabracha.com.

Chicago never fails to be a hub of culture for the nation. Each week a unique blend of people come out and soak up all the city has to offer. Don’t get left behind, before you know it Monday will be here again so get out there and have some fun.
