Unless you’ve been living in a cave, then you know that the fourth installment of the highly successful Indiana Jones Franchise has finally hit theaters and is the first big hit of the summer. Harrison Ford is back as the man with the hat and whip in search of treasure, and beating up the bad guys along the way. If that isn’t enough, the first three films have just been re-released on DVD individually and in a special edition three disc box set.

Indiana Jones – The Adventure Collection

Special Features

Directed by Steven Spielberg
Created by George Lucas
Starring Harrison Ford
Rated PG & PG-13

Indiana Jones is one of those iconic movie heroes that have become part of our popular culture. Harrison Ford is at his best and most comfortable on the big screen as the university professor, archaeologist and pursuer of rare antiquities. George Lucas nailed it when he created the ultimate action character with his homage to the 1930s serial films. Add one of the best and most successful directors of our time, Steven Spielberg, and you have one of the ultimate creative relationships in cinema.

Up until now, you’ve only been able to buy the Indiana Jones movies one way, by buying all of the films in a box set. Now, if you only want to buy the third film, you can as they are now available individually in new special editions. However, why would you want to? Whether it’s the original, Raiders of the Lost Ark (or Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark as it is now been re-titled), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, they are fun films that you can watch again and again.

The newly released Indiana Jones – the Adventure Continues box set is for the super fan or for someone who doesn’t already own the original DVD box set. Yes it has some new features including new introductions by Spielberg and Lucas for each film and nine new featurettes. But there is also some great bonus material from the previous box set that has been left off of this new set. It always drives me nuts when they do this since it means I have to hold onto both editions, in order for me to have all of the bonus material.

None the less, the bonus featurettes are nice additions and help to bring you even more insight to the world of Indiana Jones. Whether it’s on the Raiders disc learning how they created the melting face effect, the “Creepy Crawlers” featurette of the Temple of Doom disc, or the featurette on the many colorful characters in the Indiana Jones films on the Last Crusade disc. All of this featurettes are nice bonus materials that are worth checking out.

So go out and see the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones series and then relived the legacy with this new box set.
