From giant stadiums to intimate venues, The Presidents of the United States of America have campaigned to fans big and small. Regardless of their up and down success, the three-piece band comprised of lead-singer Chris Ballew, drummer Jason Finn, and guitarist Andrew McKeag continue to rock out – never slowing down from the success of their self-titled debut album that sparked a fruitful career for the threesome.

Even if they sing songs about “Peaches”, “Ladybug”, “Kitty”, and of course, “Dune Buggy”, the Seattle-based band still has the ability to strike dominate chords and showcase their musical talent, as they were one of the early three-piece bands to ride a wave of post-fellow Seattle band-Nirvana success.

As for the Abbey Pub, a packed-full house experienced all of the above and plenty more, as many of the fans, dressed in their favorite 90s-gear jumped up and down and enjoyed the two hour reminiscing sing-a-long. The jean-jackets were out in full affect, as were the Converse All-Stars and the big hair – all reasons why The President’s show resulted in success.

Throughout their show, not once did the energy slow. The completely-bald (just like in the 90s) Ballew jumped up and down and even hopped off the stage into the 500-capacity crowd – obviously showing he has no hard feelings to playing a tiny venue as opposed to the large ones of the band’s heyday.

The Presidents used their Abbey Pub campaign stop to push their new album, “These Are the Good Times People,” (in stores now), in which they showcased new songs “Ghosts Are Everywhere,” and the easily sing-a-longable “Mixed Up SOB”. Even though the new songs certainly exemplify The Presidents’ sound – the packed-house was definitely more excited to hear the songs that took them back to the 90s, including half the crowd begging for “Lump”.

Given the limitations of the Abbey’s stage, The President’s were still able to jump around plenty and propel energy – and smelly, sweaty heat -- throughout the crowd. This night was perfect for memories, booze, and great tunes.
