If you couldn’t get enough of character Allison Montgomery from Grey’s Anatomy, then Private Practice is sure to be your fix. The show has a unique setting that is different from other medical dramas; this one is based on a new age, cooperative practice known as The Oceanside Wellness Center. Private Practice has all the makings of a guilty pleasure; the in office romances and the tragic, off the wall, medical scenarios. Essentially this is a primetime medical soap opera similar to Grey’s but with the LA vibe.

Although a slow start, Private Practice delivers in the end with small miracles and anticipated romance, making for an unpredictable season finale.
The season starts off with our heroine and renown neo-natal surgeon, Addison Montgomery (played by Kate Walsh), leaving Seattle Grace to pursue a “ free love” kind of practice. Joining the Oceanside Wellness Center she teams up with her best bud Naomi Bennet (Audra McDonald ), a fertility specialist, her soon to be ex husband Sam (Taye Diggs), Pete (Tim Daley) the holistic healer and Addison’s love interest, Violet (Amy Brenneman) , the obsessed psychologist, Copper,(Paul Adestein) the quirky pediactrician, and Dell (Chris Lowell), an aspiring midwife and the office’s secretary. Here they cooperatively tackle the many facets of their patients’ issues, bumping heads with Charlotte, a traditional MD played by (KaDee Strickland), and often end up professionally divided making for a unique chemistry between characters.
If your expecting heated energy between the characters such as it’s predecessor, than you’ll have to wait through the first few episodes, as it doesn’t develop as quickly as one would hope.
It’s not until around episodes 6-9, that we begin to see the twists and tangles that make Private Practice a true guilty pleasure and primetime soap opera.
Along with complete first season, we have a nice collection of bonus material as well. If you’re a Kate Walsh fan you’ll be sure to enjoy the bio on her. If you still can’t get enough of Kate and the Practice, check out the deleted and behind the scenes features too. The bonus section also includes bloopers, commentaries and extended episodes.
Although Private Practice is a good first season, I am sure the second season will be a lot more satisfying as the hanging storylines are set to unravel come October 1st on ABC. Pick up season one and get ready for another season of the ever engaging life of Addison Montgomery.
