Shrek the Halls premiered last November, the day before Thanksgiving, bringing us back to the wonderful world of Shrek. With Christmas almost at their swamp’s front door, Shrek scrambles to make their first Christmas as a family a special one. Shrek clueless on where to begin finds himself in town and buys a step by step guide to help him with the festivities entitled - Christmas for Village Idiots.

How hard can it be? Step I: Decorate the house, Step II: Stockings by the fireplace, Step III: The Christmas feast, Step VI: The Christmas Tree and Step V: The Christmas story. It all seems very simple and easy but that would make for a boring story. Christmas eve arrives and everything appears to be in order, Shrek sits down in his favorite chair and gathers the family around for the last and very important step, the telling of the Christmas story. As Shrek begins reciting Twas the Night Before Christmas, the front door slams open and in walks donkey wearing a X-Mas wreath and a slew of their friends. Everyone from the Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio and even Puss in Boots is here.

In the mayhem Shrek still tries to tell the Christmas story to his little ogres when Donkey and the gang interrupt to tell their own version of the classic. So begins the crazy fun of Shrek the Halls. From Puss in Boots Zorro like story to Gingy the gingerbread man’s horror story of the arrival of a Godzilla like Santa Claus arriving to his home.

Along with the short little feature, we have some fun bonus features for the whole family to get involved. First up we have 12 Days of Christmas Sing Along and Deck the Halls that cleverly uses footage from the Madagascar films in particularly from The Penguins in a Christmas Caper short.

If that isn’t enough we have two games, one with everyone’s favorite gingerbread man and another that is a demo that you can play in your computer. As with all the DreamWorks DVD’s, you have the Animated DreamWorks video jukebox that allows you to watch music video’s from all your favorite DreamWorks films.

Shrek the Halls is the next classic to watch every holiday season from now on. Set your tivo for Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas and then make sure you put in Shrek the Halls.
