Season 7 was a tough year for Scrubs but it wasn’t entirely the fault of the producers. Like every show that was being produced during the 2007-2008, Scrubs was a victim of the writers strike. Yet, through the course of the season episodes did air out of order and it became increasingly difficult to know when a new episode would appear and in turn lost viewers. Season 7 was a year that would test their fan base and leave them guessing if their beloved show had run it’s course.
With that said, Scrubs seventh season is now available on DVD complete and yes, in the correct order. Now you can finally see the uneven season as it should have been aired. The seventh season only produced 11 of the 18 episodes but that doesn’t mean the season wasn’t worth while and it’s actually better than you think.
The seventh season showcased some great life alternating stories of the season. Even though the season was cut short, that doesn’t mean this 2 disc set is short of extras. Like the previous seasons on DVD, the seventh season includes a nice collect of bonus material to resurrect your faith.
On disc 2 we have a great featurette on the making of the My Princess episode. This 17 minute plus feature goes into every aspect of the making of this unique episode from the table reads to the designing of the costumes. The One-On-One with Ken Jenkins is a 7 minute plus interview with the actor who portrays Sacred Heart's Chief of Medicine Dr. Robert “Bob” Kelso. Ken Jenkins comes across as the luckiest man in the world getting to do something he loves.
If that isn’t enough, we also have a collection of deleted scenes that show the original one that aired and an additional way they considered playing it. Alternate lines is handled in a similar way but lets us watch the actor go through a series of adlibs to try and find the “funny”. Bloopers are a series of just that, flub lines that happened through the course of the season. These are all worth, it for if nothing else, to see just how fun it is to be on this show, even actors just making a guest appearance.
The seventh season has arrived on DVD warts and all. Still, there are great moments including the season finale fantasy episode directed by Zach Braff himself that proves this season wasn't totally for naught. Season 7 may have been cut short but never fear, Scrubs has not completely flat lined. Contrary to what you may have heard, Scrubs will be back for season 8 on a new network starting in January.
