If you have purchased a latte or coffee at a near by Starbucks, you probably have seen the CD, "From the Ground Up" by the five piece New York city based band called Antigone Rising. Starbucks is distributing their CD nation-wide and the lunch crowd that swarmed around the Chicago River was lucky enough to get a free drink and to hear what all the buzz is about.

Lava Records recording artists Antigone Rising consists of lead singer Cassidy, guitarist sisters' Cathy and Kristen, bass by Jen, and drums by Dena. Fueled with energy overdrive, Cassidy took control of each song with her empowering vocals. They opened the hour long set with "Hello" which then led into songs including "Longshot," "She's Not Innocent," "Better," and "What?" Many fans were anxiously waiting to hear them perform their first release called "Don't Look Back", which they have performed on "The Tonight Show" and the "Today Show" with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer.
The harmonies during their songs will leave you with a brief chill, but you immediately get hot and sweaty with Cathy's lead guitar and Cassidy's raw and emotional vocals. Their music could remind you of Janis Joplin intertwined with Kansas.
Take my advice and check out their new CD. This band is far from being a longshot…they are a sure-shot! Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
