I am Ready to Fulfill my Dream as a Beatle with Rock Band Print E-mail

Who hasn’t at one time or another wanted to be a rock star? I know I have always secretly wanted to be a singer in a rock and roll band. However one problem – I can’t sing. In fact I actually may be tone deaf. Through the years I have tried to learn to play guitar but have lacked the disciple to put in the time. I have recently been turned on to the fun interactive game of Rock Band and have learned I can do it all in the secrecy of my own home with my wii. Now with the announcement of The Beatles Rock Band coming in the fall, I will soon be able to be one of the Fab Four as well.

You read that right; starting September 9th you will get a chance to be John, Paul, George or Ringo with the latest installment of the interactive gaming experience phenomena Rock Band. The game will allow you to experience their career from the early days at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, to The Ed Sullivan Show and all the way to the final performances on the roof top of Apple Studios. Along the way you will be privy to special rare audio and unseen photos from the archives.

This game has all the previous elements of using the controllers that resemble a musical instrument like a guitar or a drum kit and then following the notes on the screen to earn points and complete the song. The Beatles installment will also include features like two guitars plus a bass and a new harmonies option. There will also be new custom built instruments like Paul’s signature Höfner bass or Ringo’s drum kit to purchase and play. They have thought of everything here and all you’ll need to do is supply the hair-cut.

This new game has been made with full cooperation of the surviving Beatles and the widows. In fact, they were all present yesterday in Los Angles to unveil it at the Microsoft E3 conference. “The game is good. The graphics are very good, and, er, we were great,” said Ringo Starr during the conference.

The game will include 45 songs on-disc including “I Saw Her Standing There”, “I Feel Fine”, “Day Tripper”, “Taxman”, “Octopus’s Garden”, “Here Comes The Sun”, “Get Back”, “I Am The Walrus”, “Back In The USSR” and “All You Need Is Love”. Shortly after the September release, full albums will be made available for download starting with Abbey Road. Giles Martin (the son of the original Beatles’ producer) has re-worked the songs from their original multi-track masters and I bet they are going to sound fantastic.

So there you have it, go buy Rock Band 2 (out now) and start practicing so you are ready to play The Beatles Rock Band when it comes out in the fall. This is truly exciting for all Beatle fans who have secretly been wanting to be part of the band since they listen to them on their turntables as a kid (that goes for you too Pete Best). Who knows maybe we’ll even get some alternate takes of the classic songs – now that’s what I think would truly make this a “magical mystery tour”!
