Isla Fischer proved she had the comedic chops when she played Gloria Cleary the crazy sister opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in The Wedding Crashers back in 2005. Now with her own star vehicle she can cut loose as the adorable yet addicted to fashion buying Becky Bloomwood, in the 2009 film adapation of the popular Shopaholic novels. Confessions of a Shopaholic is now out on Blu-ray with a bonus digital copy to boot.

After being scarred for life at an early age when her Mother bought her some cute but very unfashionable brown shoes, Rebecca Bloomwood has made fashion her life and her mission. Rebecca now an adult moves to Manhattan to pursue the magazine world of New York and perhaps buy a few things along the way – okay a lot of things. So much so that debt collectors are on her tail and are getting closer day by day. Rebecca is currently working for a little garden magazine in the city but has visions to work for the Holy Grail of fashion magazines - the all powerful "Alette" magazine. She arrives for an interview to her dream job but she is already too late, it has been filled. However the male receptionist is won over by her charm and gives her a hot tip that Successful Saving magazine is holding interviews today as well. Why a finance magazine? Well because it’s also owed by Dantay West that owns Alette and it’s her way into the magazine family.

Rebecca is all determined however on the way to the interview a flier alerts her to an unbelievable sale at Denny & George and realizes she can not walk away from a deal. Inside she finds a perfect green scarf but her over drafted credit card is declined. In a panic she finds herself outside at a hot dog stand trying to make a deal to buy all the hot dogs for cash back. Little does she know but the guy behind her waiting patiently for his turn will, is the very same guy conducting the interview at Successful Saving. Rebecca tells him it’s for a good cause and concocts a story about her Aunt Ermintrude, who is sick in the hospital and needs the money to buy a scarf for her, he gives her the money that she needs mostly to get her out of his hair. When she arrives for the interview she is of course now wearing the above mentioned scarf, as she walks into the office of Luke Brandon, the editor of the magazine Successful Saving. She of course doesn’t get the job, well initially anyway. However later that night drunk with her friend she makes a mistake in sending the nice letter to Successful Saving. Luke has a change of heart and hires her for what he thinks is her alternate take on the finance world.

So begins the crazy story of Rebecca’s rise and fall to find her dreams. Okay it may not sound plausible but it’s a movie and a chick flick romantic comedy at that. If you can get pass some of it, what you have is a fun movie about second chances, finding true love and having all your dreams come through. Confessions of a Shopaholic is one of those films that you get all of your girlfriends together, drink Manhattans and have a chat fest while watching the movie- no boys allowed!
