4:29 p.m. Saturday SBC West Stage Being a journalist, it probably wasn't the most professional action on my part, but I decided that I had get my groove on with the incredible airwaves that filled the air as one of my favorite Lollapalooza bands, Cake, performed on the festivals premier stage.
As I looked around, not too many people were following my lead, as most were snuggled up on the ground – taking a breather from the near 100-degree temps. Even Julie Mossler, Lumino's other top gun at the festival shook her head in disgust. But I was perfectly fine collecting a little sweat on my forehead for the opportunity to dance.
Vince di Flore (the wonderful trumpeter) was on fire – and the driving force behind my dancing. Of course, the lyrics bellowing out of the seemingly soft-spoken lead singer John McCrea added to this enjoyment. And, I must say, my feet went wild when "Frank Sinatra" came on. Um, wow, watch out world!
Now, I don't claim to be the world's greatest dancer, but I think the hippies and hip-hop fanatics would have been pleased to see my eclectic mix of dance moves. I probably looked like a break dancer high on weed – or a crackhead on, um, OK, I'll stop trying to be funny.
Cake, here's to you. You guys rock and dancing at your hour of pure genius easily makes it into Lumino's top 25 wonders of Lollapalooza. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
