This year’s event was yet another success for Kasper and Brenly, serving as sort of the baseball version of legendary concert promoter Bill Graham. Consisting of members of R.E.M. and The Dream Syndicate, the quartet known as The Baseball Project made a fine, no-frills appearance performing much of its 2008 debut album Volume 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails (Yep Roc). The band’s garage rock sensibility and no fear attitude towards mentioning Chicago White Sox players balanced out an evening set to showcase the hip-hop, blues fusion of G. Love & Special Sauce. Providing an easy segue into the night’s headlining act, the Len & Bob Band gave the two broadcasters a chance to stretch their rock star legs with a few songs, including a cover of “I Fought The Law” by Sonny Curtis and The Crickets with some help from members of The Baseball Project and Matt Spiegel (670 The Score) of Tributosaurus.

As the brand new owners of the Cubs, the Ricketts family was on hand to share in the evening with the fans and present a check for $17,518.00 towards Chicago Cubs Charities raised by the show. For more information on Chicago Cubs Charities, please visit the Official Chicago Cubs website:
