Ben Kweller gets hungry Print E-mail

I don't mean to bitch. OK, I do. This was bs. PURE BS.

So, I get a call from Ben Kweller's publicist telling me we are all set for our interview. My plan was to finish watching G.Love's wonderful set before venturing over to the media tent for an interview I was really looking forward to, but then came the madness – and it went something like this.

Call BK's manager – no answer.
Call BK's manager – no answer.

See BK's manager walking away, obviously ignoring my calls.

Hmm, this is odd.

Chase him down. Finally talk with the manager. "Ben is going to go watch Spoon, he can't do an interview with you anymore," he said.

"Well, I will walk over there and do the interview there. Could you just get me backstage to talk with Ben?"

"Um, Ben is hungry. He can't do an interview anymore."

"But, you just said he was watching Spoon."

"Um, I will hook you up next time he is in Chicago."

There is more to it, but I have decided not to expose this joke of a manager too much. Look, you make me leave one of my top three favorite musicians to do an interview that never happens because Ben is too hungry. That is messed up. And then to avoid me for 20 minutes takes it to an entirely new level.

And, to top it off, I had this master plan to get this beautiful girl I know an autographed T-shirt from her that read, "To my sexiest fan" But that did not pan out either.

Ben, I love your music man, but come on, all I wanted to do was help you sell a few more albums. A little love back would have been nice. You, unfortunately, get the thumbs down of the festival. Sorry dude.
