Fight for your right: Water and toilets Print E-mail

Perhaps the biggest deterrent from going to an outdoor festival is what seems like a permanently shortchanged bathroom, food, and water supply.

Share your experience of Lollapalooza on Lumino's message board!
Most concertgoers have come to accept these haggard conditions; based on my experience as a Lollapalooza attendee, I urge you all to take a stand and stop putting up with this shit! Lolla organizers and Grant Park people have proven that it can be done.

Lollapalooza attracted tens of thousands of people in two days, yet never ran out of food or water. Although cuisine was pricey, portions were generous.

Water was actually Smart Water, a brand infused with electrolytes, which came in affordable, larger bottles and helped fight dehydration.

A brief walk to the interminable line of Porta-Pottys conveniently set in the middle of the grounds ensured waiting in a line of no more than one or two people, max. Most importantly, a uniformed Lollapalooza employee (or five) were always within sight, enabling anyone suffering the symptoms of heatstroke to seek medical attention.

Given the extreme temps topping more than 110 degrees with the heat index, the officials of Grant Park and Lollapalooza clearly did everything possible to make attendees comfortable. I don’t know who to thank…Perry Ferrell, Mayor Daley, God, whoever…from a girl who drank plenty of water and other beverages throughout the day, thanks for making the experience a pleasant one.
