Chicago’s social elite came out in force to the Park West on a Saturday night to support a good cause and mingle with a pop culture legend. What started with a red carpet entrance quickly turned into a fun and glamorous night for everyone that attended.

The event, a fundraiser for the independent movie “Using” starring a talented cast of Chicago actors, tells the story of a father’s desperate fight to save his only daughter from a life of addiction. With the help of the guests involved they raised enough money to finish the project and release it to moviegoers around the country. Once finished a portion of the film’s profit will go to the Salvation Army Safe Harbor Shelter.
The Park West was an interesting choice for such an event. Usually known as a concert venue the chairs were pulled away and it seamlessly turned into a wide-open ballroom. Guests were treated to excellent service by a wait staff at the ready to fill all your culinary needs. I realize the food was not the main attraction at this event but it was well worth noting. The eclectic fusion of gourmet meals and pub finger food was genius and tremendously tasty.
What could have turned out to be a very glamorous but slow night became a lot more interesting when Mrs Illinois surprised everyone when she walked through the door. Decked out in a truly stunning black dress every head in the room turned as she made her way through the guests talking and mingling.
She was far from alone. Led by official guest sponsor Joey Majumdar a whole barrage of Elite and Ford Models grabbed the attention of the party guests and left them in awe. The addition of the models, a surprise to most everyone attending, gave the night a jolt of energy that would last well after the party was over.
The main attraction was undoubtedly Terry O’Quinn of Lost fame. As the guest of honor he came out dressed to the nines in a tuxedo that exuded power and confidence. Those lucky enough to be VIP got to talk one-on-one with him during the first half of the gala.
By 9 p.m. it was clear that the guests were ready to get down and let loose. Chicago native’s Aubyn Beth took the stage and proceeded to rock out for the enthusiastic crowd. Opening with the favorite “I Want You to Want Me” I couldn’t help but compare the music to an early 90s girl power band. Regardless of how dressed up you were everyone latched onto the beat of Aubyn Beth and had a great time. The band is smart, young and has a bright future ahead of them.
Thanks to benefits like this one a lot more people will have a bright future as well.
