This Friday, December 10, Evanston will get a rare winter taste of some of the best Flamenco Chicago has to offer. Las Guitarras de España is sharing the night with the Avanti Guitar Trio. Expect to see elements of Cuban son, rumba, Latin-jazz, and African percussion from Guitarras. There will be cellos and violins too. You’ll finally be able to connect with your inner Spanish anguish as Flamencos stomp it out like you’ve always wanted.

The Avanti Guitar Trio will be opening the set starting at 8 p.m. The Trio has heavy roots in classical guitar and they have those impressively technical hands to prove it. These are well-educated players and well acknowledged, coming from schools like Northwestern, Cincinnati College Conservatory and the Yale School of Music. The event will bring sounds of new and historic repertoire; music from the Renaissance through Romantic eras, Contemporary Classical compositions, music from Spain and Latin America all in the soothing tone of delicately filed nails gently plucking soft nylon strings in a trio’d choreography.
Come get a taste of what the nylon string can do. Space is a nice intimate vibe where you can feel free to stick around and hang out with the local performers, grab a hefty five dollar beer and also grab a delicious pizza in the front.
