The last time we heard from Britney Spears was in 2008, when she released her album Circus which sold four million copies worldwide. “Womanizer” was the number one song on the album. It’s almost three years later and Spears is back with her seventh album Femme Fatale.

Released March 29, 2011

Femme Fatale has a mixture of dance-pop and techno music. Spears had help from super producers Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Darkchild, Will.i.am and other great music mixers, so it’s no surprise if this album sold over 300,000 copies in the first week.

In terms of vocals, style and stage presence Spears is often compared to Janet Jackson and Madonna. Being sexy sells and Spears definitely incorporated both sexual lyrics and techno music in this album.

With that said, she does make a bad call and in turns stumbles. The most unintentionally funniest song on the album is “Criminal,” Spears talks about being in love with a bad boy and expressing those feelings to her mother. “Mama I’m in love with a criminal and this type of love isn’t rational, it’s physical. Mama please don’t cry, I will be alright.”

The majority of the songs are party/club beats that discuss seducing, kissing or getting attention from a man. Out of the 16 songs on the album, 14 of them are about a man.

The most seductive song is “Don’t Keep Me Waiting,” and it’s the only song on the album that’s not techno, it has more of a rock beat. Spears sings seductively “Don’t keep me waiting, my body’s waiting. I’m going crazy, got me waiting, come take it from me.”

The beats and sound effects on each song are wicked. “How I Roll” has amazing beats, the song reminds me of jumping rope and singing cheers but it has more of a funky pop beat. “I wanna go back downtown where my posse’s at, because I got nine lives like a kitty cat.”

As a woman I can relate to seeing a good looking man and luring him over from the dance floor or bar. That’s exactly what “(Drop Dead) Beautiful” is about. “Boy come over here with your sexy ass cause you’re beautiful, drop dead, beautiful, drop dead.”

Spears teamed up with the right producers to make this album. Although most of her songs are seductive and steamy, I guarantee you it will sell fast. This would be a great workout album, the beats will keep you energized and ready to dance.

Overall, Spears has made a great comeback with Femme Fatale. Check out songs “How I Roll,” “Trouble for Me,” and “(Drop Dead) Beautiful.” Femme Fatale is a worthy addition to your iPod.
