Having celebrated its 33rd birthday this past summer, Hard Rock Café London has birthed offspring on a truly majestic scale. Little did founding partners Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton know in 1971, HRC would become a "truly global phenomenon" (as boasted on the official Web site) with more than 104 locations as of this writing. Chicago's version of the popular eatery first opened its doors on June 17, 1986.

ATMOSPHERE

A modern-metallic sea of red, blue and green, Hard Rock Café Chicago boasts a handsome, circular bar (topped by the 'Tower of Power,' an arrangement of plasma screens that play a variety of music videos), a spacious main floor for dining, a beautiful balcony with plenty of additional seating and a ton of rock and roll memorabilia on display. CROWD The Hard Rock attracts an eclectic mix of vacationing families, high school kids in from the 'burbs, college-age music fans and hip grannies.

ENTERTAINMENT/EVENTS

The occasional concert, charity gala or special promotion adds to room's overall excitement. Be sure to check your local paper for future happenings or the Web site's calendar for a full listing of upcoming events.

SPIRITS

A fully stocked bar is at your disposal. The beer and wine selections are solid, but if you are craving something more adventurous try a Bahama Mama, mixed with Bacardi Gold Rum, Malibu Coconut Rum, DeKuyper Banana Liqueur, pineapple juice, orange juice and a splash of Grenadine. GRUB A wide selection of 'casual American fare' is available. Standout dishes include the tasty Santa Fe Spring Rolls, the HRC Haystack Chicken Salad (topped with spicy pecans), the HRC Burger, the hickory smoked Pig Sandwich, the Twisted Mac & Cheese (comfort food on steroids) and the yummy Homestyle Cheesecake.

PRICES

If you really want to treat yourself, a full spread (with a couple of drinks) will run you an average of $35-$40.

WHY IT'S UNIQUE

Each HRC location houses a unique collection of rock and pop memorabilia. Chicago boasts pieces from Elvis, the Beatles, Madonna and Cher, amongst others.
